Historic Landmarks Driving Tours
June 15, 2024

Driving Tour: 11am-4pm, Garden Party: 4pm-6pm

The Town of Clinton is a little-known Dutchess County gem remarkable for its rich tapestry of historic properties and well-preserved rural landscape. “Clinton has an extraordinary number—338 in fact—of historically significant properties,” says Cynthia Koch, Clinton Historical Society president.

Take the Clinton Historical Society’s second Self-Driving Tour for a guided ramble through the lanes and back roads of our town. At your own pace visit twelve historic landmarks in Clinton Corners, Schultzville, Hibernia, and the surrounding countryside. Then join the Society in the garden of the last landmark for an after-party with locally sourced food, wine, beer, cider, and a silent auction. (You can join the after-party even if you do not take the tour!)

You will receive a keepsake map at the start of the tour. Doors will be open from 11am until 3pm. “Start early to see all the landmarks,” says Koch. At each site trained docents will provide exterior tours that explain the property’s historical and architectural significance. Along the way you can take a ride in a 1929 Woody, enter contests that test your historical knowledge and stop for lunch at one of the local eateries shown on your map. Participants will meet at Mole Manor at 4pm (or later) for the after-party. (If only attending the after-party, you can purchase admission there.)
