Copake’s Low-Key Country Club Charm
Mauri and Urban on Why Everyone Keeps Coming Back
Spend enough time in Columbia County and you’ll hear the name Copake Country Club. Managing partners, Dale Mauri and Austin Urban, have spent years making sure it lives up to the reputation. Here, they pull back the curtain on what makes the club, the restaurant, and the community around it tick.
What does a typical afternoon at Copake actually look like?
Check in with golf professional Jack Johnson in the pro shop before a round of nine or 18 holes, then head to the bar for a beer and a burger with some of our longtime staff and familiar faces from the community—all with views of the first and 10th fairways.
Not a golfer?
Come for a cocktail or mocktail on the deck, with lounge seating or a table and some appetizers. The Greens is open to everyone. Who comes, and what’s the vibe? Year-round locals, weekenders, and New York City visitors—all welcome, none fussed over. We just want guests to enjoy a relaxed, good meal.
What makes Thursday night live music a Copake ritual?
The community really shows up for it, and when it starts, it feels like summer has officially arrived. Some guests reserve a table for dinner outside; others grab a drink and an Adirondack chair by the stage and stay all night.
What should a first-timer know about the food truck festival?
Our Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival brings together food lovers and beer lovers to enjoy the sunshine, sample bites from local trucks, and taste from local craft breweries. It’s a well-sized event—lively but not overwhelming, and great for the whole family. This year’s festival is Saturday, September 19, noon–4 pm.
How does Copake keep the energy going through winter?
Bingo nights have become a favorite among our regulars—typically every other Monday during the winter, with Mexican specials and $5 margaritas alongside free-to-play bingo. Our general manager, Brandon Ulerick, is quite the comedic host, and he curates a great prize table.
What kind of wedding finds its home at Copake?
Copake is made for couples who want something intimate and unexpected. A golf course ceremony, cocktail hour overlooking the fairways, dinner and dancing inside, late-night s’mores at the bonfire—and food from CIA-trained executive chef Marty Gerrity. Ideal for 110 guests or fewer.
What makes Copake stand out as a private event venue?
A private side patio for up to 60 guests, with customizable menus, dedicated staff, and a neutral backdrop that lets your event design or branding take center stage.
How would you build a perfect Copake Lake weekend?
Book a lake house Friday through Sunday. Dinner at The Greens Friday night, an early tee time Saturday morning, then a full day on the water with a boat rental from Mickey’s Marina. BBQ at the house that night, brunch at The Greens Sunday before heading home.
