Holiday Open House Activities: Decorations, Children’s Reading Festival,
Cards for Sailors, Santa and Refreshments

Location: Henry A. Wallace Center Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The annual Holiday Open House is on December 10, 2022 is from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Roosevelt Library and the Home of FDR National Historic Site. Both the Home and the Roosevelt Library study will be decorated for the holidays as they were during the Roosevelt presidency.

The annual Children’s Reading Festival will be held in the Henry A. Wallace Center, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on December 10. Children’s book authors will read from and sign copies of their books. Featured books will be available for purchase. In addition, there will be live music, free photos with Santa, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and children can make holiday cards for sailors on the USS FRANKLIN AND ELEANOR ROOSEVELT  beginning at Noon.

Refreshments in the visitor center will be served throughout the afternoon. Admission is free to the Home and Library throughout the day. The Home will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; the Museum from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Wonderland of Lights

Wreath Workshop – Orangerie Garden + Home

Join Shelley of Hudson Valley Flower Farm for a fun, hands-on wreath workshop in the beautiful greenhouse of Orangerie Garden + Home in Millbrook. Beginners are welcome! We’ll work with mixed evergreens to create an 18″ wreath for you to take home to enjoy for the holidays. Bring a pair of garden gloves – we’ll provide the rest!

Looking for fun for the whole family? November 25th through the 26th is the Millerton Festival of Lights! Check the schedule below to see all the activities.

 Black Friday 11/25 

10am-12pm: Ice carving demo at Veteran’s Park 

10:30am: Free screening of The Polar Express at The Moviehouse. First come first serve, movie starts at 11am, popcorn and beverage are included 

1:15-1:30pm: Children’s Raffle at Veteran’s Park. Collect tickets after ice carving or movie, must be present to win

 1-3pm: Cookie decorating and live music at North East Community Center

 1-4pm: Hot cocoa and cookies at Veteran’s Park

 1-4pm: Free hayrides

 2:30-4:30pm: Salisbury Brass Band performs at Veteran’s Park 

 5pm: Festival of Lights parade and Tree lighting

 12-3pm: Himmelli Ornament Workshop and Book Giveaway at NE Millerton Library.

Dutchess Land Conservancy’s Earth Matters webinar series is back! The first webinar of the season features none other than Jeff Lowenfels, renowned Alaskan horticulturist. In his Fourth book, Jeff exposes a major advance in our understanding of how the soil food web operates and how you can use this new knowledge to make yourself a better gardener, and an organic one at that! Lowenfels is known as the most humorous speaker on the horticulture speaking circuit. Webinar will run from  6-7:30pm.

Dress in your most authentic Bavarian attire, awards for best dressed individual, couple and family will be handed out! Plenty of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. October 22nd at Bangallworks from 1-4pm.

Tickets are $35 each, 2 for $60 and 3 for $75
