With Chamber Music America, Kaatsbaan presents Ivalas Quartet and their program First Light, featuring works by Osvaldo Golijov, Eleanor Alberga, and Ludvig van Beethoven. First Light brings the listener on a journey through the cosmos with works by composers who muse on the origins of our universe and the experience of existing beyond our world. The program closes with Beethoven’s Opus 130, a piece deemed so timeless that a recording was included in the 1977 Voyager craft as a gift to any otherworldly beings it might encounter. First Light premiered at Carnegie Hall.

Join The Fresh Air Fund’s Sharpe Reservation as we celebrate the sweetest season of all, Maple Season! This year’s Sugar Maple Celebration will take place on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 from 10am to 4pm at The Sharpe Reservation’s Camp Hidden Valley.  

The Maple Celebration is a day to celebrate spring’s arrival and share the beauty of the environment and the outdoors with our community!  Each year, 800-1300 people attend this family fun day. This celebration of spring and maple syrup has activities and crafts for kids, a vendor hall full of local goods, the opportunity to see an out of this world planetarium show, learn how to make maple syrup, and of course sample some of Sharpe Reservation’s syrup. 

This is a free event, with items for purchase. Bringing cash is highly recommended.
