A century-old Dutchess County farm goes all in on fall
Few fall rituals compare to an afternoon at Fishkill Farms, where 270 acres of orchard and farmland in East Fishkill have been cultivated by the Morgenthau family for more than 100 years. Come autumn, the farm becomes one of Dutchess County’s most beloved destinations,
and for good reason. Pumpkin picking anchors the season, with a sprawling selection of jack-o’-lantern classics and decorative gourds that make the farm’s fields look like a painting. Alongside pumpkins, the fall harvest brings an extraordinary apple season, with dozens of eco-certified varieties ripening in succession from late summer through October, and pick-your-own reservations opening as each variety comes in.
Cider flows from the Treasury Cider Bar, which pours hard cider crafted from the farm’s own fruit alongside seasonal food offerings. Fresh-pressed cider and warm donuts round out the experience in the way that only a real working farm can pull off. Harvest Festival Weekends add music and wagon rides to the mix, turning a farm visit into a full afternoon. The farm store is stocked throughout with seasonal produce, jams, baked goods, and farm-made provisions to bring home. Reservations are required for pick-your-own and fill quickly, so check the website before you go and book early, especially for weekends. This is fall in Dutchess County at its finest.
