One of the many pleasures of living in Millbrook is walking through the beautiful Millbrook Tribute Garden. Located on Franklin Avenue in the heart of Millbrook, the idea for the six acre garden was conceived in 1919 at a Millbrook Garden Club meeting. Helen Thorne, one of the collaborators on the project, wanted the park to serve as a living memorial for the fallen soldiers of World War 1 who were members of the Millbrook community. The park, a celebration of peace, is a reminder that even though tragedies happen, peace can prevail.

The garden is part of the Millbrook Community Partnership Inc., a non-profit entity aiming to build a vibrant community center in the name of Helen Thorne. Wildflowers, open grassy areas for picnics, a babbling brook, and accessible walking trails ensure that anyone can enjoy the park. Spanning about 4.1 miles, there are an assortment of  trails for people who like to stroll along and take in the scenery. Over the span of 100 years, the Millbrook Tribute Garden has become a vital part of the Millbrook community. It’s a reminder of how the past has affected the world we live in today, and will continue to be a representation of how people can come together.
