The Grove in Red Hook
Perched above an 18-hole public golf course on Route 199 in Red Hook, The Grove Restaurant and Bar is the kind of place that feels equally right for a relaxed family lunch or a leisurely dinner with friends. “The club has been here since 1931,” says owner Kyleigh Zengen. “But the board members asked me for advice about how to improve their dining facilities, and after talking with them it was apparent to me that it was something I should take on myself.” The result is a restaurant that honors the club’s deep roots while bringing something genuinely fresh to the table.
The kitchen is led by executive chef Cassie Jarrin, a Culinary Institute of America graduate whose menu draws on locally sourced ingredients and a multicultural range of influences, from her Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian heritage to Mediterranean and Asian flavors. The menu shifts with the seasons, keeping things exciting all summer long, with standouts like seared scallops over roasted red pepper risotto with lemon gremolata earning instant fan status. No golf membership required. Indoor and outdoor seating, a kids’ menu, takeout, and ample parking make The Grove an easy yes for any occasion. Live music and seasonal events round out the calendar, giving neighbors and newcomers alike a reason to return. Open daily at 11 am, with dinner starting at 5 pm.—thegroveatredhook.com
